Spooner, Hood & Redpath Ltd was formed in 2016 with the merging of Sewell & Wilson Ltd and Carey Hood & Co Ltd. In 2018 Gregor Vallely Chartered Accountants Ltd joined the team. In 2023 our name was changed to Spooner Toy & Hood Ltd.

Glenn Spooner - CA
Glenn is a qualified Chartered Accountant. After working for another CA firm in Wanganui, Glenn moved to London, working for the National Health Service. He returned to New Zealand in October 2007 and joined the Sewell & Wilson Ltd team.
Glenn became a Director in September 2012. He works with many of our farming and some of our larger commercial clients. Glenn is a member of the local Business Network International (BNI) Group. Glenn’s home town is Wanganui. He is a keen golfer and hunter.
Brent Hood - CA
Brent has been a Chartered Accountant since 2004. Brent started his career working for Deloitte as an Auditor for 6 years in New Zealand, The United States and the United Kingdom. When he returned to New Zealand, Brent joined BDO Wellington as an Audit Manager for 2 years before moving into a commercial role with Reading New Zealand Limited where he worked as a senior accounting manager.
Brent returned to Whanganui in 2012 and became a director of Carey, Hood & Co in 2014.
Brent’s experience extends across a wide range of industries including retail/wholesale, manufacturing, utilities, financial services, infrastructure and the public sector which gives him a broad range of experience to draw upon.
Brent’s interests outside of work include fishing and golf.
Aaron Toy- CA
Aaron has been a qualified Chartered Accountant since 1998 with a mix of experience working for Chartered Accounting firms and in the Corporate Sector. He has worked for large New Zealand Corporates including Fletcher Challenge Forest, Fonterra, Energy Direct NZ and TRS Tyre & Wheel, as well as spending five years based in London working for Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
Aaron started with Spooner Hood & Redpath in February 2019 and became a Director in May 2020.
Aaron has experience across a large number of industries and has extensive knowledge and experience working with large data and implementing systems and processes to assist users in making best use of the information they have available to them.
Aaron is Wanganui born and bred and after leaving for a while to see the big wide world has been back in his home town since 2009. Outside of work Aaron is actively involved in playing and coaching a variety of different sports.
